For over 100 years, the gristmill at Jolly's Mill Pond produced cornmeal and flour. What better recipe could we explore in our debut virtual cooking class than Johnny Cakes?


The History of Johnny Cakes” is a live, virtual cooking class taught by our Instructor, Justin Luis Diaz. In this class, you’ll learn:

  • How to prepare Johnny Cakes

  • Its Native American origins

  • How it was enhanced by enslaved African

  • The variety of corn that was likely grown on our land and milled in our gristmill, and more!
