This Fall, we're offering online and in-person classes.

Culinary Heritage Classes

Our culinary heritage cooking classes combine  history, geography, and cooking lessons in a single class! We also focus on the Black and Indigenous roots of Southern dishes of our property and foodway. We look for every opportunity to Taste Local History!

Some of our culinary heritage classes include:

  • History of Barbecue 

  • History of Johnny Cakes

  • History of Bacon

​

Class locations: Online, Jolly's Mill Pond Farm, and partner locations in Virginia.

Our Virtual and In-Person classes are hands-on experiences where students will:

  • Identify ingredients,

  • Learn their role in our local foodway, and

  • Prepare these ingredients in a heritage recipe.

Virtual Classes

  • Before your class, you'll receive a class packet that will include a shopping list and prep tips.

​

In-Person Classes

  • In-Person Classes will take place either on our farm or at a separate location in Virginia. The class fees include all of the ingredients and materials for the class.
