About the event





This is a 2-hour, outdoor class for learning time-honored techniques for cooking over an open fire. In "Open-Fire Cooking for Beginners", we'll cover fire-starting methods from the 19th century. So you'll learn how to:

  • Start a fire with flint, steel, and char cloth,

  • Build a "bird's nest",

  • Select tinder,

  • Start a friction fire, and more!


You'll learn these techniques all while preparing a heritage dish! Each student will also receive an "Open-Fire Cooking for Beginners" booklet featuring these fire-starting tips and techniques.
