We’re finishing our late-season field clean-up and Bill spotted these Passionflower scattered on the ground.

And in yet another first for me at Jolly’s Mill Pond, I’m suspiciously trying it.
The purple passionflower (Passiflora incarnata), also known as maypop, is a native vine of Virginia that you’ll find in sunny, open areas like field edges and roadsides. It has these beautiful, fringed purple blooms in summer and yellow,
edible fruits in the late-season.
You can make a million things from it including teas, jams, liqueur, etc.
I’m still a bit reticent, but we’ll be experimenting with it more next year…
