About the event

"Connections: A History Roundtable" will explore the forgotten and untold African-American history of the Greater Williamsburg area.  

Some members of the roundtable include:

  • Martha McCartney, a noted historian and one of the leading experts on Black history in the Williamsburg area. She's published several books including "Twin Paths to Freedom: The History and Archaeology of James City County's Free Black Communities".
  • Janice Canaday, a historical interpreter and site supervisor for Peyton  Randolph House, a reconstructed 18th-century dwelling at Colonial  Williamsburg. She is a genealogist with deep family roots in the Williamsburg area.

This is a free event with limited seating. Registration is required.
